HBB87249 1/72 Grumman F9F-2P Panther
The F9F Panther was Grumman's first jet and one of the first jets in service with the US Navy. By the time of the Korean war it was outclassed by the MiG 15 and F-85 Sabre. Despite this the F9F was used successfully in the ground attack role and proved an ideal carrier plane. The F9F-2P replaced the 20mm cannons in the nose with cameras for the reconnaissance role.
Hobby Boss are a relatively new company to us in Western Europe. They are from China and are connected with Trumpeter. Hobby Boss are known for producing well engineered kits with a good level of detail. This particular kit looks very well detailed and is a big improvement over previous kits of the F9F.
There are markings are provided for 2 different US Navy planes from the Aircraft Carriers USS Essex and USS Bon Homme Richard, in 1951.
